Lumen will share their story, highlights and insights into developing a successful artist-led collective in London and the power of strong social media engagement. Joanna Mayes (Mayes Creative) will share her experience of setting up and running an artist-led organisation based in Cornwall, talking about partnership and interdisciplinary working.
Leading Lights coincides with the Lizard Point Artist Residency – a project delivered by a partnership of Lumen and Mayes Creative. There will be plenty of time for participants to network with visiting artists and talk about their work and experiences.
Lumen explores the themes of astronomy and light, curating events, exhibitions, seminars and residencies in the UK, Europe and beyond. Lumen first launched at The Crypt Gallery in Saint Pancras on the Winter Solstice in December 2014. Since then, Lumen has curated exhibitions about a wide range of subjects including the detrimental effects of light pollution, the representation of voids and black holes.
